Works with YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit, Pinterest, Dailymotion and Truth Social links. You get an MP4 up to 720p or an MP3.

Links in. Files out.

Paste links from any of the nine sites. Spoolfield works through them one at a time and leaves finished files in your folder.

How Spoolfield works

Spoolfield with three YouTube links pasted and checked. Each shows its title, length and best quality, and the total estimated size is 422 MB.

Paste a batch. Spoolfield checks every link first.

  1. One link per line, as many as you like, from any of the nine sites.
  2. Each link shows its title, length and the best quality the site offers, before anything downloads.
  3. You see the total size up front.
Spoolfield downloading the first of three clips at 1080p H.264, with progress, speed and time left on its display. The other two clips wait in the queue.

Pick the format once. Watch the queue run.

  1. Live speed and time left for the clip that's downloading.
  2. The rest wait their turn and run one after another. Cancel or retry any of them.
  3. Choose a resolution from 144p to 8K. Each clip gets the closest one it has.
  4. “Plays everywhere” converts to H.264 with AAC audio, the format editors and phones open without complaint.
Spoolfield settings: theme, browser cookies, save folder, a finish sound and the download engine, which updates itself every day.

Set it once, then forget it.

  1. Videos that need you signed in can use your browser's sign-in, only when you turn it on.
  2. Files land in the folder you choose. Playlists get a folder of their own.
  3. The download engine checks for updates every day and installs them by itself. If a site changes and a download fails, Spoolfield updates and tries again.
Spoolfield converting two video files from the computer to MOV. The first is part-way through and the second waits in the queue. Both are marked as your files.

Already have the file? Convert it.

  1. Drop videos or songs onto Spoolfield, or choose them from a folder.
  2. Pick any of seven formats: MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM for video, MP3, M4A and WAV for audio.
  3. Converted copies land in your Spoolfield folder. Your originals stay as they are.

Works with your AI apps

AI apps that support MCP, such as Claude Desktop and Cursor, can save clips and convert files with Spoolfield. Ask in your own words. Try it free for a day, up to 3 clips, with no card. Spoolfield does the work on your device, and files never pass through our servers.

Claude Code, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, LM Studio, Windsurf and Cline work too, and so does claude.ai in your browser.

Questions

What's the difference between Lite and Pro?

Lite converts files that are already on your device: videos, songs and images. It can also shrink a file to a size you pick. Lite doesn't save videos from websites and doesn't work with AI apps. Pro does everything Lite does, saves videos and audio from nine sites (including whole YouTube playlists), and lets AI apps such as Claude use Spoolfield. You can upgrade from Lite to Pro at any time in Spoolfield's settings.

How does the subscription work?

Pick Lite or Pro, then pay monthly or yearly. Each plan works on up to 3 devices. Cancel any time; Spoolfield keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Install Spoolfield and use it free for one day, up to 3 clips. No card or account needed. The day starts with your first download.

Do I need a license key?

No. Buy from inside the app and it unlocks by itself as soon as your payment goes through. On another device, sign in with the email you used to buy Spoolfield: we email you a one-time code, and that device is unlocked. Sign out of a device to free its place for another one.

Why a subscription?

The sites Spoolfield works with change how they work all the time. Keeping Spoolfield's download engine working is ongoing work, and the subscription pays for it.

What happens when YouTube or TikTok changes something?

Spoolfield's download engine checks for updates every day and installs them by itself. If a download fails because a site changed, Spoolfield updates the engine and tries again. A site change can still break downloads for a while; the fix arrives through the same engine update.

Is it legal to download videos?

It depends on the video and on where you live. Download videos you made, videos the creator licensed for reuse (Creative Commons, for example), or videos you have permission to use. Each site's terms may also limit downloading. Spoolfield doesn't remove DRM and can't save protected streams such as paid films.

Which videos won't download?

Live streams until they end, private videos your account can't see, and DRM-protected content. Videos that need you signed in work once you turn on browser cookies in Settings.

Can Spoolfield convert files I already have?

Yes. Drop videos or songs onto Spoolfield, or choose them from a folder, and pick MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, MP3, M4A or WAV. Spoolfield saves a converted copy in your Spoolfield folder and never changes the original. When the streams already fit the new format, Spoolfield repackages them instead of re-encoding, so nothing is lost and it takes seconds.

What is MCP, and how do I connect an AI app?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI apps use other apps on your device as tools. Spoolfield supports it, so Claude Desktop, Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, LM Studio, Windsurf and Cline can save clips and convert files with it. To connect one, open Settings in Spoolfield, go to AI apps, click Add next to your AI app, then restart the AI app. For other AI apps, click “Copy setup for AI apps” and paste the setup into that app's MCP settings. During the free trial, AI apps share your 3 trial clips. With Pro, claude.ai in your browser can connect too: turn on “Allow AI apps on the web” in Spoolfield’s AI apps settings, then add Spoolfield as a connector in claude.ai.

Is there a Mac, Android or iPhone version?

Windows comes first. Mac and Android versions are planned. Apple's App Store doesn't allow apps that download from YouTube and similar sites, so an iPhone and iPad version isn't possible there.

Is Spoolfield safe to install?

Spoolfield doesn't bundle other software or show ads. It runs on your device, and your downloads never pass through our servers.

What does the app send to your server?

Only what it needs to check your trial or subscription: a scrambled ID for your device (not your name, files or browsing), and your email if you sign in. The app checks about once a day. Your videos never leave your device.
